Panenka: the free daily football quiz
Panenka is a free daily football quiz from Champs FC: the same five questions for everyone, every day. Two "penalties" ask for a number, two Name Ones and a finale ask you to name a right answer. Closer numbers and rarer right answers score more, up to 500 points. A new game starts at midnight South African time.
How does Panenka work?
- 1
Penalty
A number question, like how many league goals a striker scored in a season. The closer your answer, the more it scores.
- 2
Name One
Name anyone on a list, like a club that has won the Premier League. Any right answer scores; the fewer players who give it, the more it is worth.
- 3
Penalty
Another number question.
- 4
Name One
Another list to name from.
- 5
Finale
One more question with many right answers. A right answer nobody else thinks of scores the most. You get a minute for this one.

Panenka: FAQ
What is Panenka?
Panenka is a free daily football quiz from Champs FC: the same five questions for everyone, every day. Two "penalties" ask for a number, two Name Ones and a finale ask you to name a right answer. Closer numbers and rarer right answers score more, up to 500 points. A new game starts at midnight South African time.
How do you play Panenka?
Five rounds, 100 points each. Rounds 1 and 3 are penalties: football questions with a number for an answer, scored on how close you get. Rounds 2 and 4 are Name Ones and round 5 is the finale: questions with many right answers, where a right answer scores more the fewer players give it. You get 45 seconds a question and a minute for the finale. Your best possible day is 500.
Is Panenka free? Do I need an account?
It is free, and you can play without an account in any phone or desktop browser, with nothing to download. Sign up for a free Champs FC account at the end to save your score, start a daily streak and appear on the leaderboard.
When does a new Panenka come out?
Every day at midnight South African time (22:00 UTC). Everyone gets the same five questions that day, so you can compare scores with your mates. You can play each day's game once.
Why is it called Panenka?
A Panenka is the cheekiest penalty there is: instead of blasting it, you chip it softly down the middle as the keeper dives, as Antonín Panenka did to win the 1976 European Championship final for Czechoslovakia. In the game, a spot-on answer or the rarest right answer is a Panenka.
Is Panenka like Wordle for football?
In the way that matters, yes: one game a day, the same for everyone, and a result you can share to your group chat without spoiling the answers. The difference is that Panenka rewards obscure knowledge: naming the answer nobody else thought of beats naming the obvious one.
Who makes Panenka?
Champs FC, a free football games site that also runs Last Man Standing, a survivor game where you pick one team to win each round, and Predictor, a score prediction league, both on the Premier League 2026/27 season.
