Spurs spent £300m and are bottom of the Premier League

Tottenham's summer spending was reported at around £300m. Five games into the Premier League season they're 20th, on two points, and they haven't won a league game under Roberto De Zerbi.

445 minutes without a goal

The goals are the worst part. Spurs went 445 minutes without scoring in the league. When Conor Gallagher finally ended it against Aston Villa, in the 86th minute, they still lost 3-2 at home.

After five matchweeks they've scored two league goals and conceded eight. Only Coventry have scored fewer.

Sack or stick?

Reports say the club is backing De Zerbi through the international break, for now. His first game back is Manchester United away on Saturday 10 October, and United have only won once themselves.

The case for sticking: it's five games, it's a new manager with a new squad, and De Zerbi's teams have always needed time before the passing patterns click. The case for sacking: £300m buys you a bit less patience than that, and bottom in October is where relegation fights start.

We'd stick with him, for now. We wouldn't pick Spurs to win at Old Trafford, though.
